  1. Dale, Marina and Coleen,

Congrats on your blog/podcast! Awesome stuff 🙂

I had a chance to chat with Marina more than with anybody else, and I had a blast at the VPM (I did blog about it, check it out!)

    Best,

    Raul

  2. Hey! Thanks for stopping by Raul! It was a PLEASURE to meet you! Hope to see you around…both around these parts and in "the real world"!

  3. – – Got The Last Starfighter for my birthday last year. It rocks. Agreed. No sequel.

    – – NO MORE FUCKING PIRATES! PLEASE. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MR. VERBINSKI. STOP!

    – – Return of the Jedi: some (very few, but some might argue it's the best one). GREEN lightsabers, Jabba the Hutt, Leia in the slave outfit, best space battle probably ever (and still is), we finally see what real Jedi can do, speederbike chase, multi-tiered battle sequence. So much going on in that movie. It's awesome. IV is still the best though – gotta admit.

    – – Troma vs Costner? You've got to be joking. I saw Poultrygeist last fall and it has to be the biggest pile of shit ever made (next to House of the Dead). Also met Lloyd Kauffman and his entourage. They were so elitist. Let's take a look at some images of the great Lloyd Kaufman shall we?:

Notice any similarities? Tool. And just for comparison sake:

I win. Okay, back to the show….

  4. LOL LOL LOL

As for Pirates, I remember reading somewhere that Verbinski wasn't interested in doing any more. It's all Disney (and apparently the talent). I'll leave it at that.

  5. Great podcast as always!

Thanks for the shout out, that was so cute 🙂

I'm hoping to post a list of festivals soon – I'll let you know when its up.

The Kaufman/Boll/Costner stuff was great!!! I'm surprized from Andrew's comment that the Kaufman gang was elitist, bleh. I wasn't impressed by them at TADFF 07 at all.

I have a cute vid of Boll at TADFF that I have to figure out how to post. For all people say bad about him he's really out there and doing it, and still tends to get some pretty impressive actors too. And, no apoligizes at all he sticks to his guns and for that I give him credit.

  6. I'm excited to see the festival list. There are just SOOOO many!

And the Boll movie sounds like fun!

  7. Seriously, is that hand thing he does in all those pictures some sort of inside joke that I'm not aware of from one of his movies or something?

Shannon, if you were across the street at the pub after the screening of Poultrygeist at the Bloor, you would've seen him sitting at the head table with all his chicks and yes-men surrounding him and not talking with anyone. Maybe he would've had anyone been comfortable enough to approach the intimidating looking table. I got the feeling that he thinks he's Hugh Heffner or something.

Then they got up and left after dinner. Don't know what I expected, he just didn't seem friendly outside his screenings. Maybe I'm totally wrong about that – just the vibe I got.

  8. I'm not really agreeing or disagreeing with Andrew but I didn't really feel the need to seek him out and chat with Kaufman but I also didn't feel like I couldn't. Some of the people associated with the movies were wandering around chatting with everyone at the bar afterwards. Kaufman just wasn't which wasn't a big deal for me.

  9. Lol, I didn't notice the hand thing til you mentioned it. I didn't check out the Pub After Dark last year but I hope they keep it up, sounded like a blast. That was one freaking long day though, so I called it quits. I had no intrest to talk to them, I'm not surprized at the surrounding posse.

I'll have to figure out how to get the lil vid working or maybe just post it in all its fuzzy, unedited, cut-off, angle changing glory 🙂

  10. Oh yeah, Google image search Lloyd Kaufman. There are very few photos of him standing with other people in which he isn't doing the hand thing. I don't get it.
