Fun podcast all! It's great to hear Postal get some love. There sure was stuff in there that I didn't like was appropriate (like the driver thing) but I think that that is part of the whole point of the film. It was hear and gone in a week and I saw it in the smallest theatre I've ever been in. BUT – I wasn't the only one there, which I thought I might be.
Interesting discussion re: Redbelt, seems to be varying opinions on that one. Without mentioning spoilers I'd just say I agree with Dale.
It's great to see some Canadian films out there doing pretty well, Fugitive Pieces and The Stone Angel have both been running here in T.O. for weeks – yay!
Surprisingly, Postal actually got a second week run here. It was a bit disappointing being there for the first show on opening night last week and Boll being there to present the film and there were only a handful of people in the audience. He didn't have a lot of good things to say for that after the screening and in a way, I can't say I disagree with him.
I seem to be on my own with the Redbelt ending. It just didn't work for me. 🙁
Next big Canadian film: Young People Fucking. It's a riot and I'm hoping it gets some love in the US too.
Uwe called it though. He said the Vancouver screen would go to a second week. Mostly due to lack of other stuff coming out, but still. I wish it would come out to the burbs (I have been talking this film up with everyone, and If it wasn't for an hours drive there would be another dozen or so people in the seats.
I would see it a half dozen times if it was local.
Wow, I didn't know that Uwe was at the screening there – that is cool, except the fact that it was quiet, that is always a challenge. I hope you get him on the show though, that would be so awesome!
For Postal I ended up going to an off the beaten path for me theatre. Not one of the bigger chains, accessible but I've not been there in years as others are more convenient.
Oh, Marina I'm sure you aren't alone about Redbelt. I could feel it in the theatre that people weren't happy with that part of it. One guy actually stood up after the film and said "That sucked". Not that you said it was but I'm sure it was releated to the same thing.
Dang, I missed POSTAL in Toronto? frickin' head-cold, kept me down for that one. I guess it'll be on DVD soon enough.
If I recall right…DVD in August? Maybe someone else heard the date more accurately.
