After the Credits Episode 236: Littlest Hobo Media Spew – May

Hello must-see TV!

Summer has been slow in coming which means the ATC crew has been busy consuming media – lots of it!

While Colleen was off on holidays, she managed to watch more movies that she has in months (though the reading pile was a little lighter this week), while Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) managed to cram a load of movies and television into our media diets; I’ve been trying to clear my queue and it’s going very slowly.

If you haven’t already subscribed to the show, you can do so on iTunes, Stitcher Radio, Pocket Casts and Google Podcasts and all of the other places you get your podcast. While you’re there, cosider giving us a rating (or even a thumbs up). It may not seem like a big deal but it goes a long way in helping us find other awesome movie lovers!

The family is back!

In the years since Pixar has been digging through original movies for sequel potential, The Incredibles has long been a title that people buzz about and now, 14 years since the release of the original, the studio is preparing to revisit the much loved super family.

Along with The Incredibles 2, the month also includes a couple of potential box office hits (or flops – looking at you Jurassic World) and a little counter programming which usually makes for fun times at the movies. Join us as Colleen, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) check out June’s entertainment offerings.

Yeah, we’re all into the new “Lost in Space”

Tthe ATC crew has been experiencing a bit of a media drought. There’s no real explanation for it, it’s not like overnight it’s become summer and all of our time has been spent outdoors (well, maybe with the exception of Colleen who regularly works outdoors). It’s mostly lack of motivation, and interest.

Though the show is a little lighter this week,  Colleen, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) still managed to consume some culture. Listen in to find out what.

Also mentioned in this week’s show:

I feel bad for the kids who don’t get this reference

We’re starting to get into that part of the year where “summer” movies start to make an appearance which translates into one big movie every two weeks with counter programming in between and some of that counterprogramming sure looks sweet!

There are a couple of biggies coming this month though and leading the charge is Ryan Reynolds and his crew of badasses in Deadpool 2, the movie that has us all excited.

Join us as Colleen, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) check out May’s releases.

Also mentioned on this podcast, my favourite beer: Hoyne Brewing’s Dark Matter.

We have thoughts

Though TV has still been keeping the ATC crew busy, it seems as though a friendly reading rivalry has sprung up among the hosts. Reading is NEVER a bad thing so this is a great revelation!

This week, Colleen, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) check in and share what we’ve been watching, listening to and reading and get into a fairly extensive discussion of the merits of one of biggest movies of the last few weeks: Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One.

Two stories we mention on the show in connection to Ready Player One:

We were kidnapped by the easter bunny!

The holidays took a bite out of Easter weekend so podcast recording was pushed forward a week meaning we missed the first week of releases. Nothing much to cry over but a note that Where is Kyra? starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Keifer Sutherland is worth keeping an eye out for.

Join us as Colleen, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) check out the rest of the April releases.

After the Credits Episode 230: Littlest Hobo Media Spew – February

The best part of Altered Carbon was easily this new addition.

The Olympics threw a bit of a wrench into the TV schedule in February but that just meant there was more time to catch up on other things – though at my house, it was full on Olympic obsession which even led to multiple devices streaming various events which were happening at the same time. I feel like kudos need to be sent out to CBC and their excellent Olympic app which made it super easy to catch all of the action.

This week, Colleen, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) check in and share what we’ve been watching, listening to and reading!

This is actually a real movie. That’s really opening. In theatres.

Looks like the plug which has been keeping the releases over the last few months to a few drops here and there has been removed and the faucet is now running at extra force with a ridiculous number of movies set to open in the coming weeks.

Though it’s likely still a week or two before anything major rolls in to dethrone Black Panther from the top of the heap, there are some great titles on the horizon covering everything from big spectacle to small indie horror.

Join us as Colleen, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) check out the long list of what’s opening in March.

Action. Adventure. Romance?

It seems like just yesterday we were ringing int he new year and making resolutions and here we are, already at February.

And what exactly is up with February anyway? Where are the cheesy romances, the indie romances and Nicholas Sparks adaptations that tend to come out this time of year just in time to coincide with Valentine’s day? Can releasing Black Panther in February so close to Valentine’s  day be considered counter-programming or a briliant marketing move? We’ll find out soon enough.

Join us as Colleen, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) check out what’s opening in February. Continue reading After the Credits Episode 227: February Preview
