Festival fever has hit Vancouver and with VIFF opening on Thursday, September 26, Dale (Letterboxd), Colleen and I (Letterboxd) came together to chat about the festival in general, the selections and even threw in a few recommendations – with the help of Next Projection‘s Adrian Charlie (Twitter) and Bill Harris (Twitter) who joined us in spirit.

After the Credits Episode 130: September Preview

Festival season as hit Canada! TIFF kicked off yesterday and VIFF is scheduled to keep the Row Three festival ball rolling until mid-October but before we get there, we have a lot of month to cover though from the looks of the titles, someone has decided that trying to release anything of note in September is a lost cause – with the exception of Prisoners. That didn’t stop us so last week (Letterboxd), Colleen and I (Letterboxd), Colleen got together to gush a little about VIFF and, of course, too look ahead at the paltry September openings.

The release of Iron Man 3 and The Hangover 3 is a clear marker that the summer movie season is officially kicking off and while we couldn’t muster up much energy for either of those titles, Dale (Letterboxd), Colleen and I (Letterboxd) did spend more time than necessary waxing poetic on the the Fast & Furious franchise, pondering on the possibility of Khan in the Star Trek Into Darkness and salivating over the return of the “Vengeance Trilogy” to Vancouver.

When did February become such a bore? It’s almost as if all of the counter programming for Valentine’s day has killed off the potential for the month. It’s not all for naught though, we do have a couple of romances for those so inclined (thank you for that Hollywood) and a handfull of kick-ass action movies (looking at you Bullet to the Head). A few other titles are also looking promising so that the short month, in both days and releases, is actually looking pretty decent.

Not such a bore after all.

After the Credits Episode 122: January Preview

We start off the year on good footing with the January preview with a few days to spare before the first batch of movies however, we do so without the help of one of our co-hosts. Dale (Digital Doodles) and I discover that it’s easy to veer off track without Colleen’s help. When all is said and done, January is looking reasonably good.
