Movies have definitely taken a back seat the last few months. Part of it is the doldrums of early year releases which are often mediocre at best. Throw in a load of really great (and in some cases not so great but they tickle us anyways) TV shows, and you get a very TV heavy media spew.

This year’s flu season really hit me hard and as a result, we were unable to record anything for March but we wouldn’t let you down two months in a row so amidst holidays and new work schedules, Coleen, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) managed to find some time to get together and look ahead to what’s coming in April. And holy crow, there’s a lot of stuff coming in April!

Sooooo we sort of missed December due to the festival craziness and then January… well, that was all my fault. That’s what a week of holidays will do to you. It made my brain so mushy I forgot that we were supposed to record and then regular January stuff happened and time just vanished!

It was probably for the best. January at the movies looked absolutely terrible. Good news is, Coleen, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) are back just in time for some of the good stuff to start our year of podcasting off right!

We’re fully into awards season and the only thing I can really think about is: where did the year go?

Just the same, there’s still two months left in 2015 and if November is any indication, a lot more movies to look forward to. We did it! We made it through another festival and this year, it seems everyone is in better spirits than in previous years. I’m still disappointed by the relatively small number of movies I managed to see but on a positive note, at least my batting average was generally good.

For this year’s festival wrap show, I’m joined by Bill (@soundjam69) of The Green Screen of Death fame, and the lovely Lisa who makes a return from last year’s wrap show, to count down our favorite festival titles, the bottom of the barrel and touch base on how the festival did as a whole for 2015.

I can hardly believe it but the festival is almost over. Where did it go exactly?!

It’s been a few days since we last talked and since then, Bill (@soundjam69) has seen a hundred more movies (exaggeration – but not by much) and I’ve seen a few more, most of them good which brings the good to bad ratio in the favour of good and that, at least, is something worth celebrating.

We will be returning later this week with a final wrap of the festival and to share our top picks but until then, this will keep you informed!

At the tail end of the show I mention a recent episode of the Talkhouse podcast though I picked the wrong genre icon! The episode features Ben Wheatley and Alex Cox (not Richard Stanley – who is also awesome) and you can listen to it here.

We were well into the first week of the festival when we recorded this on Saturday and naturally since it’s now Monday, we’re now even furher into the frey.

Reporting from the trenches (actually the very pleasant courtyard of The Cinematheque on a lovely sunny day!), I’m joined by friend of the podcast Bill Harris (@soundjam69) – who also co-hosts the great The Green Screen of Death with Adrian Charlie (who we talk about in passing and whom you can find @Adrian_Charlie) – as we talk movies so far (or more accurately, he talks movies so far and I occasionally chime in).
