After the Credits Episode 250: December Preview

Spider-Man Returns!

Welcome to December. We’ve been warning about its approach and now it’s here. Where it came from we don’t know but we’ll handle it the best we can: with drinks, friends and podcasts (obviously).

For the final preview show of the year, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) are rejoined by Colleen (hurray!) to look ahead at the final batch of movies coming to us in 2018 and among them are, unsurprisingly, a few more award hopefuls.

Also mentioned on the show is Jeff Malmberg’s wonderful documentary Marwencol from which Welcome to Marwen has been adapted. Marwencol is both available for purchase and also streaming on a number of diferent services.

If you haven’t already subscribed to the show, you can do so on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher Radio, Pocket Casts and Google Podcasts and all of the other places you get your podcast. While you’re there, cosider giving us a comment or rating. It may not seem like a big deal but it goes a long way in helping us find other awesome movie lovers! The charming Zoey Deutch

In October, I was still suffering from post-festival blues which meant I didn’t want to do much beyond sleeping. Thankfully, Dale has more than stepped up!

Colleen is still MIA this episode but Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) got together to talk about some stuff we’ve been watching, reading and listening to including the return of some old favourites.

If you haven’t already subscribed to the show, you can do so on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher Radio, Pocket Casts and Google Podcasts and all of the other places you get your podcast. While you’re there, consider giving us a rating (or even a thumbs up). It may not seem like a big deal but it goes a long way in helping us find other awesome movie lovers!

Don’t mess with Viola

It’s hard to believe that the end of the year is almost upon us. Where did 2018 go?

Once again the show is one member down as we recorded this on-the-road during the week but Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) managed to find a bit of time, a bit late but as they say, better late than never, to talk about November’s long roster of releases including a couple of festival faves, some feel-good dramas and a Christmas movie. In November. WTF?

Skull World!

We’ve taken the show on the road! Out of necessity, not choice which means we’re still one member down.

So while Colleen was recuperating from a long day of work, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) found some time to touch base on what we’ve been watching and our lists this month include our usual variety of movies, TV and even a couple of new podcasts!

If you haven’t already subscribed to the show, you can do so on iTunes, Stitcher Radio, Pocket Casts and Google Podcasts and all of the other places you get your podcast. While you’re there, consider giving us a rating (or even a thumbs up). It may not seem like a big deal but it goes a long way in helping us find other awesome movie lovers!

After the Credits Episode 246: VIFF 2018 Dispatch #3

The Favourite is definitely one to look for this holiday season

Sixteen days, a weekend of rest and a whole lot of movies later, VIFF is over (mostly – a few films are still screening this week as part of VIFF Repeats).

Minutes after the closing screening of the fest, Festival Correspondent Bill Harris (Twitter) of Green Screen of Death, Lisa (who didn’t provide a list but did chime in occasionally) and I (Letterboxd) found a semi-quiet place on the streets of Vancouver to count down our favourite films of this year’s festival.

Been there. Done that. Never again.

It has been a busy week of movie festivaling since we last touched based about the happenings of VIFF but in that week, we’ve caught a couple of the big buzz-worthy titles including Under the Silver Lake and the new Lars von Trier debacle The House that Jack Built. I’m joined once again by Festival Correspondent Bill Harris (Twitter) of Green Screen of Death fame, to catch up on the last week of movies.

I’ve also been posting very regular updates on Instagram so be sure to follow along for more regular updates!

Hopefully Venom is more Tom Hardy than CGI

Festival season is officially in full swing at the moment and with awards season around the corner, October is starting to look like full-on campaign mode in action.

Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) squeezed in some time during the week just before VIFF kicked off, hence no Colleen joining us this month, to look ahead at the October releases which offer up a nice mix of high-brow entertainment, awards hopefuls and even an anti-hero to keep us on our toes.

Cold War is a stunner

We’re already on day five of VIFF and not a dispatch in sight and so, between screenings of Cold War and The Favourite, I was joined by Festival Correspondent Bill Harris (Twitter) of Green Screen of Death fame, to talk about a couple of memorable titles we’ve already seen and a couple of movies that we’re excited to see in the coming days.

I’ve also been posting very regular updates on Instagram so be sure to follow along for more regular updates!

Dale approved!

So many movies! That’s right, as I start to stress out about the next 4 weeks of film festivals, I’ve been leading up to the trauma by watching more movies and the rest of the crew is keeping up!

Join us as Dale (Letterboxd), Colleen and I (Letterboxd) chat about what we’ve been watching, listening to and reading over the last few weeks!

The summer is at an end, the kids have gone back to school and festival season is officially go.

While Venice, Telluride and TIFF have kicked off the fall film festival season, a few of the titles which made a splash at earlier festivals have started to appear (Colette), this month’s releases are hodgepodge of titles including high-brow awards fodder, family-friendly releases and more than one religious drama to keep us on our toes.

Join Dale (Letterboxd), Colleen and I (Letterboxd) as we dig through September and some of the titles which, surprisingly, have us all aflutter.
