After the Credits Episode 221: Littlest Hobo Media Spew – October

Discovery: Haley Lu Richardson

If you’re looking for extensive coverage of what I saw during VIFF, I recommend checking out episodes 217, 218 & 219 in which the fest was covered because for this edidiotn of the Media Spew, fellow cohosts Colleen and Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) catch up on what we’ve been watching but stay fairly far from VIFF – other than on quick note in passing.

Summer love

We missed October due to festival and scheduling craziness but I’d like to think we more than made up for it with a couple of bonus episodes from VIFF.

The crew is, however, reunited this month as Colleen, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) look ahead at November which is a mishmash of everything from action adventure (Thor: Ragnarok) and family fare (Coco) to awards hopefuls (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri).

After the Credits Episode 219: VIFF Dispatch #3

The Vancouver International Film Festival is back for another year and with it, our semi-regular VIFF dispatches.

We’re back for our third update and final update from the festival. I’m (Letterboxd) joined by festival correspondent and friend of the podcast Mr. Bill Harris (Twitter), whom you can regularly find on The Green Screen of Death podcast along with Lisa, who joins us for another year as we count down our favourite picks from the festival.

The Vancouver International Film Festival is back for another year and with it, our semi-regular VIFF dispatches.

We’re back for our second update from the festival and once again, I’m (Letterboxd) joined by festival correspondent and friend of the podcast Mr. Bill Harris (Twitter), whom you can regularly find on The Green Screen of Death podcast.

The Vancouver International Film Festival is back for another year and with it, our semi-regular VIFF dispatches.

For our first check-in from the festival, I’m (Letterboxd) joined by festival correspondent and friend of the podcast Mr. Bill Harris (Twitter), whom you can regularly find on The Green Screen of Death podcast. Bill is nearly 3 weeks and 2 festivals into his current run and he’s got some great coverage of the first half of the festival including insights into some of the most lauded movies of the year so far. I chime in with the occasional insight because frankly, I simply haven’t seen as many movies.

We’ll be back with another dispatch from the fest in a day or two but for now, check out our overview of the first 10 days of VIFF.

He’s baaaaaaaaack!

The crew is back together again!

Colleen, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) finally managed to align our schedules so that we could all get together to check out what’s coming in September. I just wish there was more to get excited about.

Thankfully, festival season is just around the corner which, hopefully, means, we’ll have more to be excited about as we beging the descent into awards season.

This crew is dangerous

Though it seems TV has been in a light cool-off period, that doesn’t mean we don’t have things to watch.

Though Colleen wasn’t able to regale us with her adventures through Netflix, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) covered quite nicely, if I do say so myself, by having watched quite a bit of streaming material. Also in the mix: we dig pretty deep into Dunkirk which we had the pleasure of seeing in 70mm.

??✌️✌️

What on earth is going on this summer? It seems to be start-and-stop with the big summer releases. Just when you think we’re back in the swing of things, we have another off month. It could also just be the fact that this year’s crop of summer movies has done little to impress us – I’m certainly far behind on my viewing and that’s equally due to lack of time as it is to general disinterest.

But we truck on and this month, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) trudge through August’s offerings and dig up one, maybe two, titles which look at least passingly worthy of our attention.

All I have to say is… thank the movie gods for streaming.

Oh yeah! We’re loving this 80’s throwback.

The last few weeks have been a little slow in the TV department, almost as if Peak TV also takes a summer break, but thanks to Netlix for a healthy new obsession.

Join us as Colleen, Dale (Letterboxd) and I (Letterboxd) catch up with what we’ve been watching, listening to and reading over the last few weeks and our current obsession with all things GLOW.

Luc Besson returns!

We’ve certainly been inching up to summer mmovie season with one major release coming weekly but you know we’re in full summer swing when you have Chritopher Nolan and Luc Besson going head-to-head with big budget releases.

Welcome to July and we are officially in summer release mode. This month we get a bit of everything: from small time family dramas (Menashe), to women kicking serious ass (hello Atomic Blonde!) to Christopher Nolan doing his war thing – admitedly, Dunkirk does look spectacular.

Join Dale (Letterboxd), Colleen and I (Letterboxd) as we July’s short, yet well stocked, releases.
